The Rolling Stones Vinyl Records
The very first recording was Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony carried out by the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra conducted by the very famous Leopold Stokowski. But during that time, the radio was towering over all types of communication, hence, the record was shelved for a long time.
In 1948, Columbia (not Records yet) launched the first ever 20 minutes per side record with Frank Sinatra’s album The Voice of Frank Sinatra. That catapulted the vinyl record into stardom, and the number of vinyl records sold was the gauge of an artist’s popularity and marketability. However, with all types of inventions, something improved comes along and it either reduces the purveyor’s popularity or totally obliterates its existence. For some time, the manufacture of vinyl records virtually stopped, and this can be attributed to the more durable, better sounding compact disc. The Rolling Stones was one of the bands that became very hot when it came to sales of vinyl records.
Sharing the popularity with The Beatles because they were of the same era, The Rolling Stones recorded some of the biggest selling vinyl albums in the 60s and early 70’s rock era. Mick Jagger, lead singer for The Rolling Stones, became a rock icon, and he still is. The wonderful thing about this is that The Rolling Stones have outlived The Beatles, They are still making raves in their worldwide tours and they are still recording albums, but of course not in the old vinyl material. The sad part of this is that some of their original songs recorded in vinyl may not be present anymore in the near future. So if you are a Stones fan, do not waste your time and avail of some of The Rolling Stones famous hits in vinyl.
Songs that made The Rolling Stones a household namesake like Brown Sugar, She’s So Cold, Painted Black, Angie, Jumpin’ Jack Flash (my favorite), Beast of Burden, Start Me Up, Miss You, Everybody Needs Somebody To Love, Gimme Shelter, and Honky Tonk Women are best listened to in vinyl record form. The Rolling Stones vinyl records sold most vinyl records than any other rock bands in history, including even The Beatles. And they keep on recording and selling. Hence, their vinyl records are really a must for collectors not only of Rolling Stones memorabilia but of anything of the 60’s and 70’s rock era. The Rolling Stones really made one of the biggest impacts in the music scene and they still are, strangely, in a world populated by young grunge gods and punk icons.
