They do not age well, however they have recently been experiencing something of a renaissance. The circus did not fit well with many, dismissing as a bunch of freaks with nothing happening not much below the coat of lipstick, knee boots, high heels and mini skirts. This is simply not knowing your music, the dolls are the source of so, so much that came after them. Without doubt they have the ball bearing and punk look where it ended. It looked like they came from Pluto and in many respects, they had cooked in a cauldron of AM radio dull seventies soft feel good shots and warblers sound mawkish, theirs was a voice in the wilderness, but there were so many people have homes in the wild. They came in a scene that was jaded after all ideals broken and crushed dreams of the 1960s. Against insurmountable odds of man had failed, everyone had amassed far, burying deep into their fun-time Bobbie crooning, preferring to forget. Of course, problems lingered still rotten, and in 1971, the dolls have decided to take. Their influences are varied from 50's R & B groups of girls American classic, post-psychedelic bands like The Stooges and MC5 to the British stage burgeoning glam rock of T. Rex and Slade.
But the public never down with words and music, was completely distracted by the antics and parts that were the group. With America does not occur, the band re-located to London, where after playing support Rod Stewart, they were hunted by every record company in the city. However, their drummer Billy Murcia, who tragically died of accidental suffocation after the disappearance of drugs and alcohol at a party Tenement, forcing the dolls to retreat. Of course, my Brigade Gawker Jawed vulture neck turned in their direction, nothing like a rock death roll to make your place in rock and roll. Momentum began to gather, the Dolls played to crowds of more and more each night, eventually signed to Mercury Records in 1973. The first record, New York Dolls (1973), facing the challenge of trying to channel the energy of their live shows, difficult, but it is a record fine.
Raw, gritty, stomping, Slashing … is a convincing case, confused face ideals it's bloody original. Prissy macho but technically flawed but vibrant with energy, some Stones, Ramones party. They say it is Punk is not, not now, now that's rock and roll, but it was punk before punk, which means that it has opened the way for antics of 1977, confused? You better be … You see it is that ethics was punk rather than music. The dolls proved that you did not be the Allman Brothers to make great rock and roll. However, the public remained puzzled, perhaps the mother's wardrobe / cave Antics Frankenstein was too blind or too confused, anyway nobody bought the record. Pity.
They went on the road with him, He was exuberant – bassist Arthur Kane stabbed by girlfriend, singer David Johansen was charged with obscenity, guitarist Johnny Thunders broke his guitar over his head more than a zealous fan, places have been destroyed – the record has been bugged. They demanded a new record, writing in the legendary producer group of girls, Shadow Morton to work something different for the group. It was precipitated, covers four tracks being, indicating that the muse was not sitting easily on the shoulders of Johansen, the songwriter, while considering the acting out of time and it is not really surprising. There are coatings of money in Chatter Box and human being, but ultimately it bombed and Mercury, with the tired joke dropped. It was almost more then Thunders and drummer Jerry Nolan started banging heroin and Kane hit the bottle big time. Not in the grim knight in shining armor, Malcolm McClaren, promising that he could revive the fortunes of the group. Insanely, he dressed the dolls in red leather from head to feet, was placed in front of the Soviet flag and ordered them to PLAY! Perhaps a good idea schlock in bars along the canal Griboedov in St. Petersburg, but not in America. Suffice it to say that he was not well, McClaren has been shot while Thunders and Nolan left. Sylvain and Johansen has struggled through various incarnations before giving up the ghost in 1977.
