Do any of you who commented on "getting in the groove" to know where the saying comes from?
It comes from the days of vinyl records (or perhaps the earlier version) that now only used to the sounds of hip-hop effects. They have a very small groove that runs in a spiral from the outer edge toward the center and would focus on a turntable, which was connected by wires to an amplifier and speakers. When a special needle (preferably with the tip of a diamond for better sound, which is attached below the end of a sort of "arm" or lever) was placed by an individual "in the groove" you could hear music. If your hand was not steady and you missed the slot, you could hear creaks and possibly ruin the record. Later invented dishes that lower the needle for you the right place. So … "They get in the groove" literally means being able to hear the music, which means it would be in a good mood also as you have succeeded in operating the equipment. These days, it's easy with CD's, etc. You do not know how lucky you are! That's history for you!
